Wed, January 7, 2004 - 8:41 PMNo... it sucks. There are some leagues in NY but our rules for wrestling in this state are a pain, so the promotions go elsewhere. I did a little work with the Dangerous Women of Wrestling www.dangerouswrestling.com
They are based out of philly and travel. I am training with a former ecw guy out of Newburgh NY. I have heard of a few other trainers and what not, but the rules the state athletic commition out on us, makes a lot of things not legal, or insuance too expensive to get on a show. If i hear anything I will definatly let U know. Do you have any training or what are you looking to do?

Mon, December 20, 2004 - 12:12 AMThe Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy is one of the finest grappling schools in the country and is near the Times Square area. It's not EXCLUSIVELY for women, but I know that several female grapplers train there. I myself have trained there on several occasions and they've always been welcoming, respectful, and extremely informative.

Wed, April 27, 2005 - 4:58 AMThere's a site called the 'Combative Women's Website' - I think the URL is: www.awomansplace.net (though if that doesnt work try dropping the 'a' at the beginning) - which has a voice verified message board/contact list, set up specifically for women looking for the same type of thing as yourself. Mon, August 21, 2006 - 10:01 AMIf you're interested in something that's just out-and-out ridiculous fun, check out Amateur Female Jello Wrestling. The website's: www.jellowrestle.com. Events are once or twice a month at various bars in NYC, free to wrestlers, and the next one will be August 27th at Henrietta Hudson's.
People show up in costume, some of the fighting is pure theater, some is more competive, and some of the girls do meet for serious training outside the jello venue.
